Implementation of SCSP Scheme on Ensuring Sustainable Livelihood Security of Scheduled Caste Farmers in Chinnakanal Village

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Idukki implement’s SCSP Scheme entitled “Ensuring Sustainable Livelihood Security of Scheduled Caste Farmers in Chinnakanal Village of Devikulam Block in in Idukki district” funded by ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAIR), Bengaluru at Chinnakanal Village in Devikulam Block. The programme was presided over by Smt. Veliyammal, Vice President, Chinnakanal Grama Panchayat. Dr. R. Marimuthu, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Idukki, welcomed the delegates and SC farmers, present in the function. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Sini, President, Chinnakanal Grama Panchayat by lightening the Lamp. Key note address was delivered by Dr. V Venkatasubramanian, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-XI, Bengaluru. In his Key note address he guided the SC farmers to use ATARI trademarked - Kisan Samriddhi Brand for marketing their produces across the Nation. Dr. B T Rayudu, Principal Scientist (Agricultural Extension), ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-XI, Bengaluru. Ms. Reena Chacko, Chairperson, Bapooji Sevak Samaj, Dr. R. S. Remya, Scientist- Agricultural Entomology, ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAIR), Bengaluru delivered special address. Programme was felicitated by Smt. Jeyageetha, Standing Committe Chairman (Development), Smt. Reetha M, Standing Committe Chairman (Welfare), Sri. G Vignesh, Standing Committe Chairman (Health & Education), Smt Gowri, Ward Member III, Sri. Vananaraj, Ward Member V, Smt. Sreedevi Anpuraj, Ward Member VI, Sri. Ramesh, Ward Member VIII, Sri Sreekumar, Ward Member IX, Sri S ganeshan, Ward Member XI, Smt. Jayanthi, Ward Member XII, Sri A V Ashokan, Ward Member XIII, Sri. Santhosh, Secretary, Chinnakanal Grama Panchayat. The inaugural session was followed by technical sessions on on role of NBAIR technology of Pseudomonas fluorescens in agriculture was delivered by Dr. R S Remya, Scientist- Agricultural Entomology, ICAR-NBAIR, Bengaluru, Beekeeping in spice crops by Mr. Sudhakar S., SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Idukki and NBAIR technology of BSF Larve production for feed management in poultry by Dr. S. Jayababu, SMS (Animal Science), KVK Idukki. The Director ICAR-ATARI, Bengaluru distributed Inputs like Black Soldier Fly Larvae production unit and Pseudomonas fluorescens as the NBAIR technological products to 124 selected SC farmers of Chinnakanal Village. In addition, Bee Box with stand, Knapsack Sprayers were also distributed to SC Farmers. BSF larvae technology has been evolved by utilizing BSF to decompose Home waste and the larvae as a protein rich food for poultry along with conventional feed. The BSF larvae can be mixed with conventional feed with the ratio of 2% dry matter basis. Pseudomonas fluorescens is widely used as a bio-agent for disease management Pseudomonas fluorescens plays a vital role in promoting plant growth by suppressing pathogenic micro-organisms, synthesizing growth-stimulating plant hormones and promoting increased plant disease resistance. Along with these technological inputs, Bee boxes for Promotion of alternative livelihood opportunities and to increase better pollination in small cardamom. Words of Gratitude was expressed by Mr. Sudhakar S., SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Idukki. The inputs were distributed to 124 tribal farmers.
