World Environment Day 2022 ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized World Environment Day 2022 on 05.06.2022 at KVK, Idukki. The theme for World Environment Day 2022 was “Only one earth” with the focus on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. S Jayababu, SMS (Animal Science), ICAR-KVK(BSS), Idukki and in his inaugural address he pointed the means to focus attention on the importance of maintaining a healthy environment for a healthy tomorrow. He also stressed on Controlling pollution to maintaining the environmental issues under control. The main aim of the day was to create awareness among college students of SCMAS, Rajakkad, about the importance of nature and how one can prevent and conserve them. During the event he also emphasized ways through which one can save nature. The event was felicitated by Head of Department, Department of BSW, Sanjo college, Mullakanam. He stressed on the importance of planting trees to ensure a sustainable environment. After the session technical class on importance of environmental sustainability was handled by Ms. Ashiba A, SMS (Agronomy), KVK Idukki. After the session trees were planted in the KVK campus by students of Sanjo college, Mullakanam. Another session on World environment day was also organized at Senapathy panchayat hall by Mr. Sudhakar Soundarajan, SMS (Plant Protection) ICAR-KVK Idukki, on maintaining the environment pollutant free with special emphasis to organic farming. A total of 50 students, 70 farmers and 5 officials participated in the event.
