World Soil Day-2021

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized World Soil Day celebration on 05.12.2021 at Seminar Hall of KVK, Idukki. The theme for world soil day 2021 was “Halt soil salinization, boost soil productivity”. Its motive is to raise awareness about maintaining healthy ecosystems and our well-being, by pointing out the dangers of soil salinity. During the occasion, different fertilizers and variety products were displayed as exhibits by SPIC and IIFCO. The inaugural programme was started with the welcome speech of Dr. R. Marimuthu, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK (BSS), Idukki. The SPIC, Regional Manager Mr. Ramesh inaugurated the programme and in his inaugural address he pointed the means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocating for the sustainable management of soil resources. Soil Test based Soil Health Cards were distributed to the farmers by the officials. Mr. Biju, Agricultural Assistant, Krishi Bhavan, Santhanpara felicitated the session. The inaugural session was followed with a technical session conducted by Ms. Manju Jincy Varghese, SMS (Soil Science), ICAR-KVK, BSS, Idukki. The topics on soil health management, balanced use of fertilizers to ensure soil productivity, reclamation of soil acidity and integrated nutrient management were covered during the session. SPIC and IFFCO distributed a micronutrient mixture and bio fertilizer pack to the farmers.
